The Curacao Story
Chapter 1: Creating the New Curacao
The Curacao story begins over 30 years ago, when President Ronald Regan served as America's 40th leader, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in the World Series, and Taxi was the most popular show on television.
That celebrated year also includes the life-changing, permanent move of company founders Jerry and Ron Azarkman, from Israel to the United States. Entering the new land with a few dollars in their pockets and the American dream in their hearts, the brothers soon discovered that Los Angeles' Latino communities were among the impoverished, and its hardworking residents were struggling with financial issues that prevented them from enjoying a life of luxury.
Together, the brothers began purchasing fashion accessories and home appliances, selling them door-to-door throughout these communities, offering them the opportunity to own products like watches and blenders by making weekly payments. With a simple verbal promise and a friendly handshake, the Azarkmans and their customers would agree to meet again each week and pay part of their debt, until it was paid off in full.
As the weeks turned into months and the brothers became increasingly familiar with the Latino market, they opened a storefront in downtown Los Angeles. Eventually they began offering the Curacao credit card, turning their door-to-door salesmanship into the chance to build national credit, thus helping people purchase larger items on credit down the line.
From the time Curacao opened a small showroom to their current stature of having multiple department store branches in different States, the company has continually strived to welcome the Latino communities into their stores, assist them though the process of developing credit, and hosting public events to encourage outreach.
Now Curacao wants to bring its efforts to all communities, small and large, across the world, and to share its unique "hug the customer" philosophy with everyone. If you find yourself wondering what this means exactly, the best way to tell you would be to show you. Curacao takes care of its customers. From greeting people at the door to printing each sales receipt, they seem genuinely honored that you chose their store for your shopping needs, and they help in any way they can to help ensure that all current customers become returning ones.
In addition to building and renovating its brick and mortar stores, the Curacao team has also spent a substantial amount of time designing a new logo and website to help match the level of its physical presence to that of its digital one. With the colorful bird of paradise as the new company emblem, www.icuracao.com now offers all the Curacao products online and available for national and international shipment.
Whether a block away or a click away, Curacao is a friendly department store with high quality products at affordable prices. Visit their stores or shop online at www.icuracao.com and see what it means to "hug the customer!"
