Question: What is the Background of Jason Richards, Owner of PRE Racing?
Answer: I grew up, like most guys, enjoying cars, dreaming of the day I would get my license and own my own car. I'm a tinkerer I like to assemble and dissemble things, see how they work, put them back together all that. As a little kid I always loved Legos and loved building things. Through high school I took various automotive related classes and I always enjoyed do things to my own personal vehicle. I was actually studying economics in college but I realized that my mind kept drifting back to cars and that I wasn't enjoying economics as much as I thought I would.
Luckily, I was able to live in Italy for two years which was a great experience for me and I was exposed to many different types of automobiles including several of the exotic car manufacturers. I visited some of the factories, went to some races around Europe, and when I got back to the states I knew I wanted to change my degree from Economics to Industrial Engineering Technology with an emphasis in Automotive and Automotive Design. I continued to take classes about manufacturing so I could learn how car parts are made, put together, the procedures behind it all, etc.
I also had the opportunity to work with a Porsche/Audi/Volkswagen dealership where I was able to network and make friends with people that owned some of these race cars. I was able to go to some of their races, then I helped in small ways with the cars, then I really worked on the cars, and eventually I was a part of the racing team.
